ArkAssist is ResearchArk's AI-powered proposal development suite. It brings together conversational AI, structured writing tools, reusable templates, and application lifecycle management into a single module -- giving you everything you need to go from an initial research idea to a polished, submission-ready grant application.

How ArkAssist Works

ArkAssist follows a three-step workflow designed around how researchers actually prepare funding applications:

1. Find and Analyse -- Use ArkAssist Chat to ask questions about funding programmes, eligibility criteria, and proposal strategy. Link your favorited opportunities from ArkSearch to get context-aware answers grounded in the actual call documentation.
2. Build and Refine -- Create applications with section-based writing editors that support AI content generation, compliance checking, and section-level evaluation feedback. Draw from a library of proposal templates covering 20+ categories to accelerate your drafting.
3. Validate and Submit -- Run your proposal through standalone AI tools (PIF Creator, Budget Builder, Compliance Checker, Mock Evaluator) to catch issues before submission. Track every application through its full lifecycle in Application Management.

Overview Dashboard

When you open ArkAssist, the overview page provides a centralised starting point with:

• Quick Actions -- One-click access to Create New Application, Start ArkAssist Chat, Find Opportunities (links to ArkSearch), and View My Applications.
• Recent Applications -- Your most recently updated applications with status badges and quick navigation.
• Recently Favorited Opportunities -- Opportunities you have saved in ArkSearch, ready to be linked to new applications or chat sessions.
• 4 Powerful Tools -- Cards linking to PIF Creator, Budget Builder, Compliance Checker, and Mock Evaluator. Each tool runs independently and stores its output in the My Artifacts history for later retrieval.

Key Capabilities

• AI Chat -- Conversational research assistant with streaming responses, opportunity-aware context, model selection, and full chat history management. Supports markdown rendering, Mermaid diagrams, and code blocks.
• Application Management -- Track applications through draft, in-progress, submitted, and completed stages. Search, filter, sort, export, and collaborate with team members through a section-based writing editor with auto-save.
• Proposal Templates -- Browse a categorised template library with 20+ categories. Use official templates or create your own. Each template contains dynamic sections you can customise before applying to an application.
• AI Tools -- Four standalone tools for targeted proposal tasks: PIF Creator for generating Project Information Forms, Budget Builder for structured budget planning with AI justifications, Compliance Checker for automated compliance analysis, and Mock Evaluator for simulating proposal evaluation and predicting success likelihood.
• Insights -- Analytics dashboard showing success rates, application trends over 12 months, category breakdowns, preparation time metrics, top performing sections, and overall productivity statistics.
