LiveView is the executive dashboard of Pulse, accessible at the root /pulse route. It provides a single-screen overview of the current state of the funding landscape, combining real-time database statistics with AI-generated insights and deadline pressure indicators.
Database Statistics
The top of the dashboard displays summary cards with key metrics pulled directly from the ResearchArk funding database:
- Active Opportunities -- The total count of currently open funding opportunities across all indexed programmes.
- Total Funding -- The aggregate funding amount available across active opportunities.
- Trending Disciplines -- Cards highlighting the disciplines seeing the most activity in recently published opportunities.
These statistics update in real time as new opportunities are ingested and existing ones close.
Flash Insights
The Flash Insights section presents AI-generated intelligence cards that distil patterns from across the funding database into concise, actionable observations. These insights are generated asynchronously using Celery tasks powered by the Gemini LLM, with approximately 170 active insight cards available at any time.
Each insight card highlights a specific pattern, trend, or anomaly -- for example, an unusual spike in a particular discipline, a programme that has significantly increased its budget allocation, or a cluster of opportunities with converging deadlines.
Administrators have access to a Generate AI Insights button that triggers a fresh round of insight generation on demand. For all other users, insights refresh automatically on their scheduled cycle.
Urgency Heatmap
The Urgency Heatmap visualises deadline pressure across a 3-day window: today and the next two days. It provides an immediate visual indicator of how many opportunities have deadlines falling within this critical near-term window.
This is particularly useful for research managers overseeing multiple active proposals, as it surfaces imminent deadlines that might otherwise be missed in a large opportunity pipeline.
Deadline Urgency Summary
Below the heatmap, Deadline Urgency Summary cards break down upcoming deadlines into categorised counts, giving you a quick quantitative view of how many opportunities are approaching their submission windows across different timeframes.
Live Feed
The Live Feed is a chronological stream of recent activity in the funding database, including:
- Latest opportunity additions -- Newly indexed opportunities as they enter the system.
- Deadline alerts -- Opportunities approaching their submission deadlines.
- Top categories -- The most active funding categories based on recent activity.
The feed updates continuously, providing a pulse-like view of what is happening across the funding ecosystem right now.
