Projects

Browse and filter EU-funded research projects across all framework programmes with search, sorting, URL-driven topic and scheme filtering, and grid or table view modes.

The Projects page at /graph/projects provides a searchable, filterable browser for EU-funded research projects stored in the knowledge graph. It is the primary entry point under the Browse section of Graph's navigation, sharing a sidebar with Organizations, Topics, and Schemes.

Browsing Projects

The page loads with a paginated list of projects, displayed in either grid or table view. A sidebar on the left provides quick navigation to other browse sections (Projects, Organizations, Topics, Schemes). The main content area shows the project listing with a toolbar for search, filters, and sorting.

Each project entry displays:

  • Acronym and title -- The project's short name and full title
  • Status -- Current state (Signed, Closed, or Terminated), shown as a color-coded badge
  • Framework programme -- Which EU programme funded the project (FP7, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, etc.)
  • Funding -- EU contribution amount, formatted in thousands, millions, or billions
  • Period -- Start and end dates
  • Publication and deliverable counts -- Number of linked research outputs
  • Participant count -- Number of organizations in the consortium

View Modes

Toggle between two layouts using the buttons in the page header:

Grid view displays projects as cards in a two-column responsive grid. Each card shows the acronym, title, status badge, programme, funding amount, dates, and output counts. Cards are clickable and link to the project detail page.

Table view presents projects in a traditional data table with columns for project name, programme, status, period, funding, and publication count. Rows are clickable and navigate to the project detail page. The table layout is more compact and better suited for scanning large numbers of results.

The search bar accepts free-text queries that match against project titles, acronyms, and abstracts. Results update as you type (debounced), and the pagination resets to page 1 when the search term changes. The results count updates to show how many projects match the current search term.

Filters

Three filter mechanisms are available:

Dropdown filters in the toolbar provide two selections:

  • Framework Programme -- Filter to a specific programme (FP7, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, etc.). Options include counts showing how many projects belong to each programme.
  • Status -- Filter by project status (Signed, Closed, Terminated). Options include counts for each status.

URL-driven filters allow deep-linking from other pages:

  • Topic filter -- When navigating from a topic detail page, the ?topic= URL parameter pre-filters projects to that topic. A badge appears below the header showing the active topic, with an option to clear it or navigate to the topic detail page.
  • Scheme filter -- When navigating from a scheme detail page, the ?scheme= URL parameter pre-filters projects to that funding scheme. A badge appears below the header showing the active scheme, with a clear option and a link to the scheme detail page.

Topic and scheme filters can be active simultaneously, and both can be combined with the dropdown filters and search.

A Clear filters button resets all active filters, including URL-driven topic and scheme parameters.

Sorting

Three sort options are available via the toolbar:

Sort OptionDescription
EC ContributionSort by EU funding amount (default, descending)
Start DateSort by project start date
AlphabeticalSort by project title

Each sort option supports ascending and descending order, toggled via a direction button.

Pagination

Results are paginated with configurable page sizes. The pagination control at the bottom shows the current page, total pages, and total result count. You can adjust the number of results per page and navigate between pages. The page scrolls to the top on page change.

Project Detail Pages

Clicking any project in the grid or table navigates to /graph/projects/[projectId], which shows the full project profile including title, abstract, budget breakdown, duration, programme and call information, consortium participants with roles and funding allocations, linked publications, and deliverables.

  • Explorer -- Search projects using the AI answering engine
  • Organizations -- Browse the organizations that participate in projects
  • Schemes -- Explore funding schemes that finance projects
  • Researchers -- Topic exploration and research sector analytics
